The Research and Development Committee is responsible for awarding local funds to support small research projects to individuals holding primary faculty status in the School of Medicine. Specifically, the R&amp;D Awards are to support faculty to generate preliminary data leading to an application for external support of the projects. Awards are typically in the range of $20,000 &#8211; $30,000 for one year and are non-renewable. Although not a requirement, co-support of the project by the applicant\u2019s department is viewed favorably (please document in a brief letter from the chair as a component of the application). Funds cannot be used for the support of travel, faculty salaries, or office supplies\/office computers.<\/p>\n<p>The application form and instructions can be accessed at the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/med.virginia.edu\/office-for-research\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/279\/2015\/12\/R-D-Application.pdf\">Office for Research<\/a>.
