A new Patient Education Subcommittee is being formed. This committee, which will report to the Patient Care Committee, needs more representation from Pediatrics. Desiree Yeago (Northridge Pediatrics) and I are the only Pediatrics voices on this committee and we could use your help.\u00a0Everyone is welcome, MDs, nursing, anyone with an interest in patient education \u2013 so pass on the word in your clinic or division.\u00a0Contact Cindy Westley (<a href=\"mailto:cjw2s@virginia.edu\">cjw2s@virginia.edu<\/a>) for more information.<\/p>\n<p>The Committee\u2019s Charge:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Support\/oversight to local Pt Ed groups (including service centers)<\/li>\n<li>Patient Education\u00a0 Forums (twice a year)<\/li>\n<li>Oversight of Scope of Service and Policy<\/li>\n<li>Support standard work related to consistent messages and resources (Be Safe)<\/li>\n<li>Voice for allied health providers related to patient communication<\/li>\n<li>Review of handouts and other resources \u2013 Patient Information \u2013 Marketing\/ Patient Education \u2013 Repository.<\/li>\n<li>Patient Satisfaction<\/li>\n<li>Joint Commission Standards and Audit<\/li>\n<li>Meaningful Use measures<\/li>\n<li>Patient Education Repository<\/li>\n<li>Epic Improvements for documentation patient education and AVS\/Discharge Instructions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From Martha Hellems: There is an opportunity to get involved and help with patient education, meaningful use, the notorious AVS, and more!
