Bobby Chhabra, MD
UVA Orthopedic alumni and faculty established the Bobby Chhabra Endowment for Orthopedic Excellence honoring Bobby Chhabra, MD, for his incredible leadership and effort to envision and create the new patient-centered UVA Orthopedic Center that opened in 2022. Dr. Chhabra, the Lillian T. Pratt Distinguished Professor and chair of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, is also the director of the new center — a state-of-the-art, 200,000-square-foot facility offers 90 clinic exam rooms, six operating rooms, imaging, physical therapy, a pharmacy and more.
The endowment will benefit UVA orthopedic surgery residents and fellows in a number of ways: funding resident and fellow educational travel for conferences and research presentations at regional and national meetings; purchasing surgical skills lab equipment including surgical simulators; providing seed funds for resident and fellow research projects; and helping with publication costs for research projects initiated by residents and fellows. To date, more than $264,000 has been raised in gifts and pledges for the endowment, with an ultimate goal of $1 million.
