After an international search, Kimberly Kelly, PhD, a professor of biomedical engineering at the UVA School of Medicine and UVA School of Engineering, has been named Editor in Chief of the journal Molecular Imaging and Biology. The journal is a premier publication produced by the World Molecular Imaging Society focused on discovery of molecular mechanisms of health and disease through the use of imaging techniques.
Dr. Kelly was selected for her outstanding molecular imaging research, excellent communication and leadership skills, and strategic vision for shaping the direction and growth of the journal’s impact worldwide. Dr. Kelly will begin her new role effective September 10, 2024.
The Kelly Lab uses computational methods and bioinformatics to develop more effective and less toxic cancer drugs through the identification of disease-relevant druggable targets, with a special emphasis on translation to the clinic and commercialization.
“Our vision is to impact patient lives through the development of more effective and less toxic medicines. We accomplish this through functional screening, AI to identify disease relevant targets and then develop drugs to change disease prognosis,” stated Dr. Kelly.
Congratulations to Dr. Kelly for her outstanding leadership in the field of molecular imaging.
