Senior Associate Dean for Research Jeffrey R. Martens, PhD, has been named a 2025 Fellow of the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (ASPET). This prestigious recognition is bestowed upon the society’s most distinguished members who have made exceptional contributions to the field of pharmacology.

“I am deeply honored to be named a Fellow of the American Society for Pharmacology and Therapeutics, and I am sincerely grateful to those who nominated me for this distinction,” said Dr. Martens. “My accomplishments in pharmacology are a direct reflection of the talent, dedication, and hard work of the trainees and staff who have been part of my laboratory over the years.”

Dr. Martens is an internationally recognized pharmacology researcher, leader, and educator who joined the School of Medicine in 2023 as senior associate dean for research and professor of pharmacology. In this role, he provides strategic oversight and leadership for the School of Medicine’s Office for Research, integrating clinical, translational, and basic science initiatives across departments and centers.

His research has focused on two major areas of pharmacology and therapeutics, sensory neuropharmacology and cardiovascular pharmacology, with impactful work spanning both the heart and olfactory systems.

ASPET’s mission is to advance the science of drugs and therapeutics to accelerate the discovery of cures for disease. Congratulations to Dr. Martens on being named a Fellow of this global scientific community and for his continued pursuit of excellence in pharmacological research, education, and innovation.
