Amelia Perozo, MD, a second-year Allergy-Immunology Fellow in the Department of Medicine, Division of Asthma, Allergy & Immunology, was awarded a travel grant and first place in the fellow research competition during the Southeastern Asthma, Allergy and Immunology Society Annual Meeting October 23-26, 2025.

Dr. Perozo’s presentation titled “Specificity of A2B Receptor Activation by Adenosine in Human Airway Epithelial Cells” highlighted the role of adenosine receptors in asthma pathogenesis and potential novel therapeutics. She will officially be presented her award during next year’s annual meeting.

Dr. Perozo received her medical degree from Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra, Dominican Republic, and completed her residency at Danbury Hospital Internal Medicine, Connecticut.

Congratulations to Dr. Perozo and her faculty mentor Larry Borish, MD, for this distinction and their ongoing research.
