The School of Medicine Dean’s Office held its faculty awards and honors ceremony on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at the Forum Hotel. This annual event recognizes faculty for their sustained impact on the success of our students and trainees, patients, colleagues, and on the advancement of science and medicine.
“You all are at the heart of the culture of excellence we have at the School of Medicine, for advancing science, educating the next generation of clinicians and scientists, providing outstanding clinical care and supporting each other in the process. I am deeply grateful for your support and commitment to the missions of the school,” stated Interim Dean Colin Derdeyn, MD, in his opening remarks.
In addition to recognizing faculty award recipients, the ceremony also honors endowed professorship electees.
“We are very thankful for the generosity of our donors that make these endowed professorships possible, as they allow us to recruit and retain some of the best and brightest physicians and scientists in the world,” noted Dr. Derdeyn.
Out of a total of 90 nominations that were submitted, 21 faculty from across clinical and research departments were selected to receive one of these prestigious awards. In total, 26 faculty were recognized for receiving awards, including one external award and four awards given by the Office of Graduate Medical Education. Impressively, this year, we also honored 25 newly elected endowed professors.
The awards ceremony was attended by about 120 awardees and their families, department chairs, nominators, and committee members. Dr. Derdeyn provided a welcome and opening remarks, and announced this year’s endowed professorship electees. Sue Pollart, MD, Senior Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs and Faculty Development, provided introductions for the faculty who announced each award recipient. The awards were presented by Janet Cross, PhD; Dave Kashatus, PhD; Meg Keeley, MD; Monica Lawrence, MD; Posy Marzani, MD; Kate McManus, MD; JoAnn Pinkerton, MD, and Mike Ryan, MD.

Planning is already underway for next year’s awards. The Office of Faculty Affairs and Development will send a Call for Nominations to the School of Medicine in the winter, with nomination packets due Monday, March 23, 2026. Learn more about the criteria and nomination process for each award.
