Check out these upcoming opportunities for faculty writers from the Office of Faculty Affairs and Faculty Development, including a Writing Accountability Group Program, a full-day writing retreat at Morven Farm, and three cross-grounds mini-retreats.

SOM Writing Accountability Group Program: Fall 2025 Session

  • Do you want to build the habit of writing and advance your projects?
  • Curious about how a writing accountability group (WAG) might support your work?
  • Looking for other faculty to form a group?

Registration for the Fall 2025 session of the new SOM WAG Program is open from September 19-September 30. We will help you match schedules with other interested colleagues to form a WAG, get started, and make progress on your work. Fall SOM WAGs meet weekly for 8 weeks, October 13-December 19.

School of Medicine Writing Retreat at Morven Farm

Wednesday, November 12, 2025, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Applications due on Friday, October 3, 2025.

Spend a day immersed in your writing at beautiful Morven Farm. Make progress on your work, connect with other writers, and learn tips for building a sustainable writing practice once the retreat ends. The day includes focused writing sessions, short workshops, and opportunities to meet fellow writers and learn about one another’s work.

Mini-Retreats for UVA Faculty Writers

Four three-hour hybrid mini-retreats on grounds. Put writing on your schedule and write in a supportive community. Meet in person at the UVA Center for Faculty Wellbeing and Development on the Corner or via zoom.
