\u2022 Just One Session of Exercise Can Help Make Cells Healthier<\/p>\n

Zhen Yan, PhD, and colleagues have completed a study in mice that, for the first time, shows that just one bout of moderate to intense exercise acts as a \u201cstress test\u201d on mitochondria in muscles. They discovered that this \u201cstress test\u201d induced by aerobic exercise triggers a process called mitophagy, where the muscle disposes of the damaged or dysfunctional mitochondria, making the muscle healthier.<\/p>\n

The findings have been published online by Nature Communications.<\/p>\n
