\u2022 UVA Heart Failure Program Earns National Quality Awards<\/strong><\/p>\n For working to improve patients\u2019 recovery times and reduce readmissions, the heart failure program at the University of Virginia Heart and Vascular Center has received two national quality awards from the American Heart Association.<\/p>\n The Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Center earned the AHA\u2019s 2017 Get With The Guidelines-Heart Failure Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award along with being named to the Target: Heart Failure Honor Roll.<\/p>\n \u201cEach day, our multidisciplinary heart failure team is working to provide excellent care that is tailored to the needs of each patient,\u201d said James Bergin, MD, the medical director of UVA\u2019s heart failure\/cardiac transplantation program and a professor of Medicine at UVA School of Medicine. \u201cIt\u2019s wonderful to see our team\u2019s dedication recognized by the American Heart Association.\u201d<\/p>\n Read more: http:\/\/www.nbc29.com\/story\/35588965\/uva-heart-failure-program-earns-national-quality-awards<\/p>\n \u2022 Is Plant Milk Good for You? Children Who Drink Cow Dairy Are Taller, Study Shows<\/strong><\/p>\n Mark DeBoer, MD, Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the UVA School of Medicine, was recently quoted in a Newsweek<\/em> article examining a recent study of the effects of drinking cow milk.<\/p>\n \u201cThis study does fit with prior research showing cow\u2019s milk is associated with taller stature over time,\u201d says Mark DeBoer, a pediatric endocrinologist at the University of Virginia, who was not involved with the research. DeBoer also highlights potential limitations of the findings.
