Meet Michael Mendoza, MD, Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at UVA School of Medicine.

Q: How long have you been at UVA and where were you before you came to UVA?

I have been faculty at UVA for 2.5 years and was previously in Atlanta where I did my general pediatrics training and fellowship training in Pediatric Gastroenterology.

Q: Is there something that you’ve worked on or accomplished in your career that you’re particularly proud of or glad you were able to experience?

Helping build and grow the Pediatric Liver Transplant Program at University of Virginia Children’s Hospital.

Q: When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I wanted to play professional basketball.

Q: A favorite spot to grab lunch during the day?

Farm Bell Kitchen.

Q: Do you have any children or fur babies at home that you would like to tell us about?

I have two boys, Thomas and Nicholas.

Q: Do you have a favorite local restaurant or hangout spot?

Brasserie Saison on the downtown mall. I would recommend their mussels and frites and their cocktail the 23 Skidoo.
