Have you ever thought about creating a Twitter account to use professionally?
A 2013 review of studies found evidence that social media use may enhance professional development, collaboration, and career advancement/network for medical educators. Additionally, it may increase learner engagement and provide opportunities for feedback between learners and educators and among learners. Social media tools were found to be particularly popular with medical students.
We offer CME workshops on using social media effectively, such as one on altmetrics – measurements of alternative scholarly contributions, including those made via social media. New this fall, we will offer a workshop with more detailed instructions on the logistics of creating and using social media accounts professionally.
