The UVA Department of Safety and Security has announced that the Office of Emergency Management, Office of Threat Assessment, and the University Police will host their Active Attacker Prevention, Response, and Notification Training on Tuesday, April 9, from 12 pm to 1 pm in Newcomb Hall. The event is free and open to all UVA students, faculty, and staff.

Although active attacker incidents at universities and medical centers are rare, the impact on the individuals and communities affected cannot be overstated. In this 60-minute training, our staff will discuss what our department is doing to prevent, prepare for, and, if needed, respond to an active attacker event. Participants will learn about Emergency Notifications, how to report concerning behavior, and easy-to-remember options for people facing a violent situation.
