UVA Department of Neurosurgery was exceptionally well represented at the annual Neurosurgical Society of the Virginias’ meeting in January, with trainees receiving multiple awards recognizing excellence in research and scholarship.
In addition to a faculty presentation W. Jeff Elias, MD, professor and interim chair of the Department of Neurosurgery, four neurosurgery residents presented their work: Emily Dunbar, MD, Max Laws, MD, Divine Nwafor, MD, PhD, and Connor Berlin, MD.
UVA trainees received the following top honors:
• Jane-Nugent Award (1st Place, Basic Science): Max Laws, MD
• Jane-Nugent Award (2nd Place, Basic Science): Divine Nwafor, MD
• Crutchfield-Gage Award (1st Place, Clinical Research): Connor Berlin, MD
• Medical Student Scholarship: Jared Chung, SOM Class of 2028
