NIH Research Mentoring Network Training Opportunity

September 17, 2021 by dld5dt@virginia.edu

Application to the next cohort has been extended to Monday, September 27!  This is the 5th cohort since the study began in 2020. Due to the pandemic, all of the sessions are conducted virtually. Briefly, participants meet bi-weekly for 5-6 months in groups of 4-5 with a faculty Coach who has been successful at obtaining research grants and has been trained in the group method. The study is a randomized trial comparing 4 different group process designs.  It is not a typical ‘controlled’ design, where some individuals receive no coaching, since the benefit of grant writing coaching groups has already been established.

Participation in the study is open to faculty and advanced postdoctoral fellows who have not yet received NIH R01-level funding.  Participants can be working on NIH K or R-type proposals, or equivalent for other agencies, and will be actively writing their proposals in the January-June, 2022, timeframe.  All of the details of the study and a link to the application can be found here:  https://nrmnet.net/university-of-utah-nrmn-u01/
