SU2C Lung Cancer Health Equity Research Team Grant Program

May 14, 2021 by dld5dt@virginia.edu

Purpose:

The SU2C Lung Cancer Health Equity Research Team Grant Program endeavors to quickly test new and emerging ideas in treatment of lung cancer in diverse populations and to prioritize new and innovative diagnostic and treatment methods for lung cancer. This program seeks to address the issue of low participation by racial and ethnic minority populations in lung cancer research despite the disproportionate burden of disease in these groups through studies that inform clinical practice and evaluate approved regimens in special or expanded populations. The Research Team will foster new and inclusive cancer research on the causes and treatments of lung cancer, mentor a new generation of scientists focused on lung cancer research, detection, and treatment, and provide medical professionals with tools and materials to better advocate for lung cancer screening and treatment with their patients with a particular focus on populations heavily impacted by lung cancer.
