Purpose
By August 15, 2020, provide a report to Blue Ridge Behavioral Health Care in Roanoke VA that illustrates behavioral health disparities with links between negative behavioral health outcomes (morbidity and mortality) and biology, genetics, health, access to health services, socioeconomic status, the physical and social environment, discrimination, racism, literacy levels (graduation rates and truancy), homelessness, legislative policies, etc.
Background
Disparities statements are more likely to be funded. Identifying characteristics, including social determinants of health, that increase risk of morbidity and mortality associated with behavioral health conditions will increase the potential to address these diseases. Targeted interventions and policies can be developed and implemented more efficiently and effectively, and resources can be allocated more equitably.
The VHEOC is a consortium of five public universities funded under the SAMHSA State Opioid Response Grant, and administered by the UVA SOM.
Key Dates
Project must be completed by 15-August-2020.
Proposals due by 19-February-2020.
