Schwartz Rounds logoThe UVA Health Office of Team Wellbeing is recruiting for two clinical leaders (one staff, one Licensed Independent Practitioner) for the Schwartz Center Rounds program.

Schwartz Center Rounds are regular, multi-disciplinary meetings for healthcare staff to discuss the emotional and social challenges of patient care. These sessions, which are not for clinical problem-solving, provide a safe space for all staff—from doctors to porters—to share their experiences, reflect on the human side of medicine, and build community. The goal is to support staff wellbeing, enhance compassion, and ultimately improve patient care.

Clinical Leader Role Description:

  • Well-respected clinical team members who act as champions for the Schwartz Rounds with other clinical leaders, including Office of Team Wellbeing Co-Directors Ann Kellams, MD, and Joel Anderson, RN, PhD, Chief Medical Officer, Chief Nursing Officer, and other medical staff and senior administrators.
  • Will participate in the Planning Committee and Leadership Team meetings to assist in discussing topics, selecting and inviting panelists, and supporting the facilitators with a case or relevant theme (as needed).
  • May host each session by welcoming participants, introducing the Schwartz Rounds, assisting in focusing discussions as needed to support the Facilitators, and sharing insights and reflections during the session. Some Clinical Leaders are also Facilitators. After each session, the Clinical Leader will debrief with the Planning Committee.
  • Requires up to four to five hours prep and debrief time per session (at times that are convenient for you) dedicated to the Schwartz Rounds per session. Our goal is to have a minimum of 6 sessions per calendar year, for an estimated 30-hour time commitment over 12 months. Note: There is an anticipated small amount of salary support available for the clinical leaders, details TBD.

Interested parties should send a brief synopsis of experience and interest and a CV to: Teamwellbeing@uvahealth.org
