Fourteenth Annual Research Trainee Competition Call for Abstracts
Monday, March 9th, 2026: 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM
The Research Trainee Competition features platform presentations by residents, medical fellows, medical students, graduate students, and undergraduates. Trainees from the Department of Pediatrics or the Child Health Research Center are especially encouraged to participate, but we welcome submissions from anyone conducting pediatric-related research.
Top presentations from the Trainee Competition will be selected for oral presentation at the Annual “Research Day” Symposium. Please specify in your submission email whether you will be available to participate in Research Day on March 26.
All Trainee Competition participants are also invited to present a poster of their work for Research Day. Please send an email to RPEDSRESEARCH@uvahealth.org and confirm that you plan to submit a poster for the March 26, 2026 Research Day Poster Session. (Only one abstract submission needed for both events.)

The 2026 Edwin and Mary Kendig Award Call for Nominations
The Kendig Research Award is given annually to a fellow on their last year of fellowship at the University of Virginia, Department of Pediatrics who has demonstrated excellence in clinical or basic science research over the course of his or her fellowship. Success in research is determined by: letters from mentors, manuscripts submitted or accepted for publication, and grants awarded during the fellowship
