Two UVA School of Medicine representatives have been appointed to serve on the AAMC Council of Faculty and Academic Societies. Dr. Laura Shaffer, Professor of Pediatrics and former society representative for the Association of Psychologists in Academic Health Centers, will serve as the senior representative. Our junior representative will be Dr. Andrew Parsons, Associate Professor of Medicine and hospitalist in the UVA Division of General, Geriatric, Palliative and Hospital Medicine. The Association of American Medical Colleges Council of Faculty and Academic Societies identifies critical issues facing medical school faculty and academic societies and serves as a voice for both constituencies within AAMC’s leadership and governance structures.
