Volunteer hauling away unused medications.
UVA’s participation in National Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, October 25, was a tremendous success—collecting 96.5 pounds of unused medications that will be safely disposed of, keeping them out of homes, water supplies, and communities.
The Department of Anesthesiology celebrates National Drug Take Back Day in collaboration with Pharmacy, Marketing, and Administration departments by hosting a drive-through drug drop-off in front of the ERC building. This event, initially submitted to, and a winner in, the UVA Health SPARK Innovation Competition, was sponsored by UVA Health Pharmacy, UVA Health Department of Anesthesiology Pain Management Center, UVA Office of Pain Management and Opioid Stewardship, and UVA Police Department. A big thank you goes to everyone who helped plan and execute this important event.
Special recognition to Acadia Finan, who worked the pickup line despite an injured foot and to Khaing Phoo for keeping the team organized and on track.
