JoAnn Pinkerton, MD, a professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, was featured in more than 100 outlets nationally – including U.S. News & World Report – discussing a potential new menopause treatment.

A new clinical trial has found that an experimental pill called elinzanetant can significantly ease hot flashes and night sweats in postmenopausal women. According to researchers reporting in JAMA Internal Medicine, the drug reduced the frequency and severity of these menopause-related symptoms by nearly 74% within three months.

“This yearlong study not only confirmed the initial findings of rapid and significant reduction in the frequency and severity of hot flashes and night sweats but also provided evidence that these effects were sustained over a year, offering hope for longer-term relief,” says Dr. Pinkerton.
