Margaret Tracci, MD, JD, Selected for New Leadership Position in American College of Surgeons

Margaret Tracci, MD, JD

The American College of Surgeons has selected Margaret Tracci, MD, JD, a vascular surgeon and professor in the UVA Department of Surgery, as medical director for surgeon engagement in the ACS Division of Advocacy and Health Policy.

In this new leadership role, Dr. Tracci will focus on engaging ACS Fellows in in advocacy initiatives, drafting health policy and advocacy articles, and presenting to surgeon audiences regarding advocacy and health policy issues. Additionally, she will oversee the coordination and development of practice management resources to assist Fellows with the business aspects of their practices.

Dr. Tracci has been an ACS Fellow since 2021 and has extensive experience as an advocacy leader for professional medical associations. She was also recently named the first woman president of the Southern Association for Vascular Surgery.
