
Jeffrey Gander, MD
In the podcast Rotation Ready, Jeffrey Gander, MD, associate professor in the UVA Department of Surgery, expertly guides students on how to pre-round on their pediatric patients in the mornings, how to work-up abdominal pain in a child, and gives advice for students who are working in the OR for the first time. He offers students plenty of helpful tips and strategies on how to become an invaluable member of the team and stand out during their pediatric surgery rotation.
Dr. Gander trained in both general and pediatric surgery at Columbia University Medical Center in New York City. He joined the faculty at University of Virginia Health Children’s in August 2014. He specializes in surgery for children and is particularly interested in minimally invasive approaches to surgery for childhood diseases. Dr. Gander is passionate about medical student education and is the Surgery Clerkship Director for the UVA School of Medicine.
