Biomedical Engineering post doctoral trainee, Sarah Groves, PhD, in the Kevin Janes Lab, made an educational video to provide insight into the applicability of systems biology in a clinical setting. Dr. Groves’ research and the video are part of UVA’s Center for Systems Analysis of Stress-Adapted Cancer Organelles (SASCO), which is supported through a NIH-U54 research grant. SASCO is co-directed by Kevin Janes, PhD, in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, and Matt Lazzara, PhD, in Chemical Engineering and the Department of Biomedical Engineering.

The video was completed as part of the Center’s “Outreach Core”, which is co-led by Todd Stukenberg, PhD, in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics, and Jason Papin, PhD, in the Department of Biomedical Engineering. It describes how UVA researchers are combining computational modeling and data science approaches with cutting-edge, wet-lab experiments to make new discoveries and identify novel treatments for cancer.
