The UVA Center for Global Health Equity has established new partnerships with the University of Ghana Medical School and Family Health University College in Accra, Ghana. These collaborations offer valuable opportunities for faculty, residents and students to engage in clinical, education and research initiatives that can have a global impact.

Last summer, Evelyn Aboagye, MD, and three first-year UVA medical students — Sidney Chong, Stephen Chukwurah and Bhavik Patel— traveled to Ghana as part of a community health research experience. The students worked directly with residents, school children, healthcare workers and the broader health systems. Through these experiences, they explored a community health challenge and gained insights into local  assets and opportunities for addressing these challenges.

The UVA Center for Global Health Equity encourages those interested in clinical, educational or research opportunities to get in touch with Dr. Aboagye at or Scott Heysell, MD, PhD, with interests or inquiries.
