Faculty Description/Learning Objective
Participants will learn the diagnostic criteria for common psychiatric disorders, including how these criteria are used to differentiate between clinical symptoms and eccentric, non-pathological behaviors. By the conclusion of this learning activity, participants will be able to list the Criteria for Psychiatric Diagnoses; identify key behavioral markers: Attendees will gain the ability to identify behavioral markers and patterns that suggest a psychiatric condition, as opposed to normal variations in mood, thought, and behavior; and apply knowledge to case studies. Participants will practice applying their knowledge through interactive case studies, helping them to recognize when behaviors may warrant a professional evaluation versus when they are likely within the range of normal human experience.
