The Office of Research is accepting applications for the Strang Neuroscience Research Award. The intent of this award is to provide seed money for young scientists to investigate traumatic brain injuries, stem cell therapies, and Alzheimer’s disease. The award is made possible through generous gifts to the UVA School of Medicine by Howard Strang and his wife, Alice, who wish to express gratitude for the support Howard received during his early professional life.

Eligibility & Criteria for Selection
  • Limited to pre-tenured faculty members who hold the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor at the time of application
  • Project should investigate neuroscience topics, including but not limited to: traumatic brain injuries and disorders, stem cell therapies, and Alzheimer’s disease
  • $25,000 award for one year
  • Funds should not be used for salary support
  • Funds should not be used for animal work
  • Proposed topic should fit the theme of the award
