After a national search, Emily Schneider, SHRM-CP, MILR, has been selected to serve as the School of Medicine’s Assistant Director of Faculty Affairs. Ms. Schneider will have direct responsibility in supporting SOM faculty members throughout their careers as teachers and mentors, investigators, and patient care providers. She will work on executing key faculty affairs processes, such as promotion and tenure. Ms. Schneider comes to the University of Virginia from Columbia College, the undergraduate school of Columbia University, where she serves as a human resources manager. She oversees a wide range of HR duties supporting Columbia College staff, such as recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and off-boarding processes. In addition, Ms. Schneider works closely with several key stakeholders, including HRBPs, associate deans, unit leaders, and hiring managers to support her institution’s mission and strategic direction.
Ms. Schneider earned her BBA in Business Management from James Madison University and her Master of Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University. Ms. Schneider’s interests outside of work include cooking, nature walks, traveling, and spending time with her partner and two cats. Ms. Schneider is looking forward to utilizing her expertise in HR as she begins her new role in the Office of Faculty Affairs on December 4, 2023.
