Donna Broshek, PhD, a professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Neurobehavioral Sciences, was elected to the Board of Directors of the International Concussion in Sport Group (CISG). The CISG is the only international and multi-disciplinary organization dedicated to the science and health management of sport-related concussion. Based on analysis of the world’s scientific literature, the CISG develops consensus guidelines for the evaluation and management of sport-related concussion on a quadrennial basis.
Dr. Broshek also co-authored a book on Navigating the Challenges of Concussion that was released earlier this year as part of the American Academy of Neurology Brain & Life Books series. She has provided consultation on sport-related concussion and athlete brain health to UVA Athletics and local school systems for many years.
